The toughest situations are her favorite!
She is a lifelong learner and gets very curious about what holds clients back and what empowers each person and how that can be achieved.
Those close to her know she’s a bit of a mad scientist and often wakes up in the middle of the night and run to her whiteboard with a case formulation strategy!
Farah believes wholeheartedly in connectedness within the therapist community. She volunteers as a mental health lead and works hard as a Regional Network Coordinator on behalf of EMDR Canada as well as hosting various groups for therapists. She also provides consultations and support to other therapists.
Over a decade ago, Farah saw a service gap and in order to connect with people who may not be able to meet in person, she engaged with the University of Toronto’s e-counseling program and now provides certified counseling online. This has proven very helpful for many people including those who travel frequently but would like to continue the flow of their sessions or those living remotely.
She has earned recognition from the college through her years of work and most specifically in providing preventative education to reduce risks of suicide in long term care facilities with the geriatric population.
Farah is inspired by her belief in people’s desire and ability to heal, grow and thrive. She has ongoing interests in neuroscience and is passionate to support people in learning about their own minds. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, travelling, culinary arts, spinning, yoga and lifting heavy things at the gym.
She has earned numerous certifications including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (T-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Advanced Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), and Gottman’s Level 1 Couples Training.
